Who is it for?

The course is for people working or volunteering in the charity & social enterprise sector and people involved in activism. It is ideal if you are new to secular mindfulness meditation as well as if you have a basic grasp of mindfulness and are looking for a supportive group context to refresh and deepen your practice. If you have any questions about if it’s the right fit for you please drop me an email on info@changeinmind.uk.

About the course

The course draws on BreathWorks award-winning, evidence-based 8-week Mindfulness courses and is also inspired Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects and Kristin Neff’s work on self-compassion.

On the course you will:

  • Learn how to prevent burn out: Take space out of your day to attend to your wellbeing and explore how to embed awareness, wellbeing and self-compassion practices in your life.

  • Learn a variety of meditation practice: Including mindfulness and compassion practices, mindful movement and micro-mindful moments.

  • Take a break: explore the radical potential of rest and self-care.

  • Strengthen resilience and agency: for a more sustainable and empowered approach to social impact.

  • Connect with others: Experience a supportive group context for learning mindfulness & compassion practices.

  • Gain a richer experience of life: Experience how mindfulness meditation can help you step out of over-drive and into a fuller, richer experience of everyday life.

  • Discover tools for self and collective care: take inspiration back into your communities and workplaces to create mindful, compassionate change-making cultures.

  • Gain new perspectives: tap into a sense of inter-connection to strengthen both inner and collective resources.

What previous participants have said

“Seeds of Change was exactly what I didn’t realise I needed. Tess held the group with warmth, clarity, authenticity and skill, creating an environment that felt accessible, enjoyable and, at times, profound. The mix of guided meditations, discussions, laughter, and tools made the sessions feel nourishing and practical in a way that felt real. I particularly appreciated how the content explored the personal and political as symbiotic aspects of an overarching and intersecting whole. I left the course feeling more connected to myself and to the world around me – with a renewed sense of hope about how to keep going.” Jacinta Kent, Activist and Group Analyst, Leeds

“I recently completed the Seeds of Change course, and I can honestly say it has been transformative! Without even realising at first, I now find that I have a completely different perspective on my work life, and how I approach challenges in general. Overall, the course has empowered me with a sense of control. I feel much more resilient and equipped to handle whatever comes my way. This course gave me exactly what I needed! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain more balance and perspective in their life.” Lucy Gardner, Community Organiser, Citizens UK, London

“I was blown away by how Tessa’s Seeds of Change made me feel. The course started when I was feeling burnt out and drained from professional and personal demands and it came at the perfect time. Tessa’s warmth really shines, and she naturally brings the group together. I’ve missed it so much, but I am still reminding myself to use the micro mindful moments I learnt in this course when life feels too fast paced.” Kate Bowden, Bristol Mind

“The Seeds of Change course introduced a perfect mindful time into my working week. I learnt a lot, helping some new habits, but mainly I valued the space being held for us so skilfully by Tessa. Our group bonded and shared and it really was a highlight of my working week.” Karen Bowers, CEO, Bristol Law Centre
